Jackson County Library Services is proud to announce ?Jackson County?s ?New Town?: A History of Medford? as the next topic in the ?Windows in Time? history series offered in partnership with the Southern Oregon Historical Society. Lectures are at noon on Wednesday, June 1, at the Medford Branch Library, 205 South Central Avenue, and Wednesday, June 8, at the Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Boulevard.
Presenter Kevin Keating will be discussing some of his favorite and more intriguing people and events that have taken place in Medford's long history, and some of the other local flavor he wishes he could have fit into his book, aptly named Medford. He will also speak of the fun he had in thumbing through the picture files and other documents at the Southern Oregon Historical Society. There will be time for questions.
Mr. Keating has always loved reading about history, ever since reading Hawaii by James Michener. He enjoys the ?wow? factor of learning something new, especially about Medford. Mr. Keating is a teacher of Ancient History and Human Geography at St. Mary's School in Medford after having taught 6 years at Butte Falls High School.
The free lunchtime lecture series continues monthly on the first and second Wednesdays throughout the year from noon to 1 p.m.
