The letter of patent for Carl Benz? ?vehicle with gas engine? from the year 1886 has been included in the UNESCO Memory of the World register. On 29th January 1886, Carl Benz registered the patent for the vehicle he had developed with the Imperial Patent Office in Berlin. 125 years later, this submission has come to represent the birth of the automobile.
